BIG BEAR LAKE, CA – The long awaited Civil Air Patrol Bear
Valley Composite Squadron 6750 headquarters building broke ground over the
Memorial Day weekend. The new community emergency services building is located
on the Northeast corner of the
The two story
structure was designed specifically for emergency services, along with
aerospace education for the youth of the community. Squadron 6750, the local Civil Air Patrol
unit, will furnish the building with the latest communications equipment to
support its primary missions, including Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief,
Counter-drug and, newly added, Homeland Defense. There will be office space for
a variety of mission tasks, including administration, safety, public affairs, and
mission coordination. A cadet program, for youth ages 12-21, will also be using
the facility. A large training area is
being provided for Civil Air Patrol emergency response training, and will
accommodate Mountain Mutual Aid community emergency services agencies, of which
Squadron 6750 is a member. It will be equipped to serve as a satellite command
center during most
Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer, 501C, non-profit
organization and is, by law, an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. All contributions of time, money and
