HARTMANN PROMOTED

BIG BEAR LAKE, CA – Major Bill Hartmann, former commander of Bear Valley Composite Squadron 6750, has been promoted to Lt. Colonel.  Hartmann served as Commanding Officer of Squadron 6750 for four years after completing three years as Deputy Commander.  Upon finishing his term as Commander earlier this year, Lt. Col. Hartmann became the squadron Administration and Personnel Officer.

The past week will be a memorable one for Hartmann.  In addition to his recent promotion, he was inducted into the U.S. Power Lifting Federation Hall of Fame for the State of California.  During his power lifting career, Hartmann established 154 National and 25 World Master records.  He was the first athlete over 60 years of age to dead lift more than 700 pounds when he set the world record with a 733 pound lift.  He is an International Referee, the past Chairman of the International Technical Committee, and former power lifting meet promoter.

This is the second Hall of Fame induction for Hartmann. His first was in the Los Angeles Police Department Hall of Fame when he was one of the “Athletes of the Decade” for the 1980’s.
